Custom reports

When the built-in reports do not answer your question, build your own. The custom report builder turns one survey type’s records into a grouped summary.

  1. Survey type: choose which survey type to report on.
  2. Group by: pick a field to group records by, for example species or site. Leave it on “(no grouping)” to summarize all records together.
  3. Measure: choose what to compute for each group: Count of records, or the Total or Average of a numeric field.
  4. View: show the result as a Table or a Bar chart (you get both, in the order you pick).
  5. Filters (optional): add one or more conditions to narrow the records. All conditions must match.
  6. Choose Run report.

Filters

Each filter is a field, an operator, and (for most operators) a value. The operators are:

  • is and is not (exact match),
  • contains (text),
  • >, <, >=, <= (numbers and dates),
  • is blank and is not blank (no value needed).

Add conditions with + Add filter. They combine with “and”, so the report includes only the records that satisfy every condition. The report’s subtitle spells the filter back to you, so it is clear what you are looking at.
