Logging a sample
You log a sample when you send it off, so the record exists from the start rather than being filled in once the result arrives.
Log a sample
Section titled “Log a sample”- On the Lab samples page, choose Log a sample to open the form.
- Enter the Sample type (required), for example tissue, water, or fish.
- Choose a Source, where the sample came from: Own survey, Partner, Watercraft inspection, or Wildlife disease.
- Fill in any of the optional details: a Sample code (an external or lab identifier), the Lab, the Method, the Analyst, and the dates it was Collected on and Received on.
- If the source is Partner, choose the Submitting organization and the Waterbody it came from. If it is Watercraft inspection, choose the Inspection station and enter the Watercraft registration, Vessel origin, and Vessel origin state.
- Add Notes if there is anything worth recording.
- Save. The sample appears in the list in Received status.
The Submitting organization and Inspection station come from your labs and partners directory, and the Waterbody comes from your locations, so they stay consistent. The Lab, Method, and Analyst fields are still free text.
