Create your workspace

Your organization is your workspace in CensusIO. It holds your survey types, your records, your team, and your settings. Everything you do happens inside an organization, and your data is never shared across organizations.

CensusIO uses passwordless sign-in. On the sign-in page, enter your email and choose Send sign-in link. Open the link in your inbox to finish signing in. There is no password to set or remember.

The first time you sign in, a short setup wizard walks you through three steps.

  1. Organization. Enter an Organization name (for example, “Cherry Creek Watershed Council”) and a handle. A short code is added to the handle to keep your link unique (like cherry-creek-7f3a), so the clean, short names stay open. On a paid plan you can later claim a custom URL from settings. Choose Create organization.

Creating the organization seeds it with a starter library of survey types, so you have working examples to build from right away.

  2. Invite team. Add teammates by email and pick a role for each, Admin, Member, or Viewer, then choose Send invites. Each person gets an invitation link. You can skip this with Skip for now. Inviting more people afterward is done from Settings, which is available on paid plans, so on the free plan it is easiest to add your team here.

  3. Get started. You will see where to go next: browse your survey types, draft one with AI, or import existing data. Choose Go to my workspace to land on your survey types.

Once you are in, the header is your map. It carries:

  • Dashboard, your workspace home, with counts and a “Start here” panel.
  • Survey types, where you design and open your surveys.
  • Lab samples, the log for samples sent out to a lab.
  • Reports, for cross-survey reporting and export.
  • Reference ( Reference Locations , Lists, Map layers), the controlled data your surveys draw on.
  • Admin (Integrations, Billing, and Settings), and your profile menu on the right.
