Enter data
You can type records straight into CensusIO. The form is generated from your survey type, so it shows the right fields, validates as you go, and shows or hides fields based on the rules you set.
Enter one record
Section titled “Enter one record”From a survey type, choose Enter data. The form opens with the survey’s fields.
- Location (optional, and shown once your organization has locations defined): bind the record to a site or waterbody, so it inherits that place and can be checked against it. Leave it on “No specific location” to record a point only.
- Fields: fill in the survey’s fields. Required fields are marked, help text appears beneath a field, and any problems show inline as you go.
- Submit: save the record. The form clears and is ready for the next one, so you can keep entering.
Enter many records quickly
Section titled “Enter many records quickly”For a long session at the bench or in the boat, use rapid entry. It keeps a running count and lets you mark fields as sticky, so their values carry over to the next record.
- Open rapid entry for the survey type.
- Under Stays for the next record, check the fields that should keep their value between records. The date, time, and location are sticky by default, since they usually do not change within a session.
- Enter and Submit each record. The sticky fields stay filled, the rest clear, and the counter ticks up. Your recent entries from this session are listed so you can spot a mistake.
