Lab samples

A lot of wildlife work produces something physical: a tissue sample for disease testing, a water sample for eDNA, a fish for a pathogen panel. Those specimens go to a lab, and weeks later a result comes back. The lab sample log is where you track that journey, so a sample does not get lost between the field and the result.

You find it under Lab samples in your organization. You log a sample when it is sent, move it along as the lab works, and record the result when it lands.

What it is, and what it is not

The lab sample log is a tracker, not a lab. CensusIO does not run any analysis; it records that a sample exists, where it came from, what is being done to it, and what came back. The lab name, the method, and the analyst are fields you fill in, so the record is complete even though the work happens elsewhere.
