Accessibility and languages

CensusIO is used by agency staff, partners, and volunteers, on a range of devices and with a range of needs. Two things follow from that: it should work for people who do not use a mouse or who use a screen reader, and it should speak the languages its users do.

Accessibility

CensusIO targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. It is built from semantic HTML and native controls, so keyboard and screen-reader behavior comes from the platform rather than being bolted on. It includes a skip-to-content link, visible focus outlines, reduced-motion support, and an automated accessibility check that runs on every change. A formal audit with assistive technologies is planned and not yet finished, and we keep an honest list of what is done and what is pending.

Languages

CensusIO is available in English, French, and Spanish. The language is always part of the web address, as /en, /fr, or /es, and a switcher on the public site changes it while keeping you on the same page.
