Map layers

A point on a map means more when you can see the boundary it sits in. Is this electrofishing station inside the priority watershed? Does this elk observation fall in the right hunt unit? Map layers let you upload those boundaries and lay them over your survey maps, so the question answers itself.

You find them under Map layers in your organization. The page reads: “Boundary layers like watersheds or hunt units. They appear as an overlay on survey maps.”

What a layer is

A layer is a set of shapes: watershed outlines, hunt or management unit boundaries, an organization’s administrative area. You upload it once, and it becomes an overlay you can switch on while looking at a survey type’s records on the map. The boundaries are context for your points; they do not change the records themselves.
