Citations

When a record is published, its public page makes it easy for others to cite your data correctly. That matters for a system of record: data that is cited is data that gets reused and credited.

How to cite

Every public record page has a How to cite section with two ready-to-copy forms:

  • Reference: a plain-text citation, with a Copy button. It reads roughly: your organization, the year, the survey type, “CensusIO”, and the record’s permanent link.
  • BibTeX: the same citation as a BibTeX entry, with a Copy BibTeX button, for reference managers and LaTeX.

The year comes from the record’s survey date, and the link is the record’s permanent public URL, so a citation keeps pointing at the right record.
