Mapping presets

If you import the same shape of file regularly (a monthly export, a standard field sheet), you should not have to map its columns every time. Mapping presets save the column-to-field mapping so you can reuse it.

Save a mapping

On the Map columns step of the import wizard, in the Field-mapping presets card, type a name in Name this mapping and choose Save preset. The current mapping is stored for this survey type.

Load a mapping

Next time you import to the same survey type, open Load a saved preset… and pick the one you saved. It applies the mapping to your file. If a column the preset expects is not in this file, that field is left unmapped and CensusIO tells you which ones were skipped, so you can finish the mapping by hand.
