Connecting a tool

Each tool has a built-in OData connector. In every case you give it the feed URL and your token.

Power BI

Choose Get data, then OData feed, and paste the feed URL. When asked for credentials, pick Basic and enter the token as the password (any username works), or pick Web API and supply the token. Choose the tables you want and load.

Tableau

Choose Connect, To a Server, OData. Enter the feed URL, then enter the token as the password (any username works), and pick a table to begin.

ArcGIS Pro

Choose Insert, Connections, New OData service, and enter the feed URL and your token. The feed’s tables appear in the Catalog.

How the token is sent

The standard way is a Bearer token, which these connectors support. HTTP Basic also works (the token as the password). As a last resort for a tool that cannot set a header, the token can go in the URL as ?$apikey=..., but that is less private because a URL can be logged, so prefer a credential field.
